A set of ultra reflective pigments in white, blue and red are meant to be mixed with sustainable substrates for application in grafitti, street art and textiles to combat heat islands in urban settings.

Das Team um Manuel Schumacher und Konstantin Zayka will mit einem künstlerischen Ansatz Städte und Gebäude kühlen. Spezielle reflektierende Farben und Muster auf Straßen und Gebäuden senken Temperaturen und verschönern gleichzeitig das Stadtbild. Immerhin dreifarbig sind verfügbare Pigmente, die damit zur kreativen Gestaltung neue Ansätze erschließen.

Pilotprojekt angesiedelt in der Nachhaltigkeits-Kreativwerkstatt des Reallabors FS17 in Düsseldorf-Benrath.

The team lead by Manuel Schumacher and Konstantin Zayka wants to cool down heat islands and buildings in urban settings with artful application of special paints that can cool down their surfaces below ambient temperatures in lab settings. With three available colors to start with, we want to explore artistic and material science applications for seasonal heat management.

Pilot installation is going to take place at FS17, a living lab for sustainable design and architecture practices in Düsseldorf.
